The fastest growing supplier of kitchens in the UK, which has risen to be a £1.2billion business in just two decades continues with its rapid growth and expansion. This has meant that the business has had to invest in all aspects of the organisation including its power protection provision.
With business growth comes a greater reliance on IT and other automated equipment and with that at greater risk from fluctuations in power supply. Any breaks in power could result in unscheduled downtime and subsequent financial implications. A resilient power protection solution is critical, for organisations such as this.
The solution and results
As the number of power disturbances continues to rise many businesses are choosing to further bolster their power protection by adding further redundancy. This was recommended by Power Control for Howdens.
To achieve this and increase operational efficiency Power Control supplied, installed and commissioned a modular Huawei UPS5000-E 125kW Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system.
The online double conversion Huawei UPS5000-E not only meets the efficiency and resilience criteria but also provides a very flexible scalable option that can be expanded as the business grows.
Working with one of the country’s largest systems integrators, Dimension Data, the solution put forward by Power Control provides both redundancy and increased efficiency without any impact on the existing electrical infrastructure.
Following the completion of all due diligence, which included a witness test at Power Control’s dedicated testing facility, the order was placed and the project finalised within a very tight timeframe. All works were completed out of hours over a weekend to ensure minimal disruption and downtime. The new Huawei UPS5000-E solution is now supporting critical finance and administration data systems.
