Power Control Ltd is pleased to announce the recent completion of a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) replacement project for colocation data centre provider, Amito.

Data centres are becoming increasingly complex environments with large focus being placed on sustainability and money saving technology.
Placing a high priority on sustainability, Amito pride themselves as being one of the most energy efficient data centre sites in the UK. Ensuring all equipment is future-proofed was key to improving energy efficiency levels, whilst also maximising the longevity of the site.
UPS systems play a large part in improving PUE and this latest project saw Power Control deliver eight 400kVA high efficiency Huawei UPS5000-S systems in a 2N configuration. This was a direct swap out, replacing eight less efficient transformer-based UPS systems and reducing CO2 by 109,062kg within a year.
The latest generation of modular UPS technology also means Amito is operating at an improved PUE of 1.12, making the site significantly more efficient.
The decentralised UPS systems are designed to independently feed different areas of the data centre facility, making future expansion an easier process and one that is less time consuming. Future proofing facilities is becoming increasingly important as demand for online services continues to rise.
After a rigorous selection process, Amito first enlisted Power Control’s services in early 2012 ago and since then a strong relationship between the two businesses has been formed.
