Power Control Powers New Data Suite At Cloud Centres

The solution and results

After being awarded a high profile contract that would require the design and build of an entirely new data suite at their site in Wales, Cloud Centres called upon Power Control to deliver one of the most important aspects of a resilient data centre, the power infrastructure.

Although their customer placed great significance on reliability, they also wanted to ensure that the environmental impacts of drawing such vast amounts of power were alleviated as much as possible. Cloud Centres had to consider this criterion when appointing suppliers.

With the knowledge that Power Control has a substantial sock holding of UPS systems and a history of being able to supply units under limited time scales, Cloud Centres drafted their expertise to deliver the critical infrastructure.

Following a site survey, Power Control recommended x2, 200KW Legrand KeorMOD UPS systems which supplied A and B feeds. Due to the modular architecture of the Legrand units, each rack has built in redundancy as well as an extra module in each should one fail. Resulting in a solution that delivers the maximum amount of resilience and meets and exceeds the requirements of the customer.

With over £10million in stock, Power Control was able to deliver the solutions in three weeks from receiving the order to commissioning the systems before being deployed and installed on site.

As an energy efficient UPS that provides 96.8% efficiency whilst in normal operating mode and 99% efficiency when in ECO mode, the modular technology met the customer’s requirements of delivering data hall with a reduced environmental footprint.

The Legrand KeorMOD is a three phase uninterruptible power supply that’s ideal for data centres. Delivering a rated power from 25 to 250KW per unit, the units can be connected in parallel up to 600KW to provide the power requirements of today, as well as allowing flexibility for growth in the future.

Each module is plug and play and can be ‘hot swapped’ for efficient maintenance and expansion. There is an additional communication module that’s easily accessible and a 10” rotating touch screen which displays alerts, information and setting controls.

As the UK modular UPS partner for Legrand, Power Control works closely with them to deliver and maintain their innovative portfolio of UPS systems across the UK. The range combines sophisticated multifunctional characteristics with high performance features and solutions that meet regulations of specific industries.

Power Control has over 27 years’ of experience in delivering power protection solutions. It adopts a fully inclusive approach to the delivery, installation and commissioning from preliminary consultation and project management through to aftersales and service. The company has its own nationwide team of engineers available for immediate assistance. Its product portfolio is comprehensive and includes systems from 800VA through to 6.4MVA.
