VRLA Battery

The most common choice of battery for today’s UPS systems

VRLA Battery 1

The most common choice of energy storage for UPS systems, Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) batteries are environmentally friendly sealed units

VRLA batteries are the most common type of batteries found in modern UPS systems. Their low hydrogen emission make them an environmentally friendly and safe option for all industries and applications from data centres and telecoms to manufacturing and complying with HTM 06-01 healthcare guidelines.

Our VRLA batteries can be housed in racks separate to the UPS and positioned alongside the UPS for space saving opportunities and easy system maintenance. For optimum battery performance they should be placed in a temperature controlled room set to 20 degrees Celsius.

Depending on what industry the batteries are being used for, VRLA batteries can be specified in 4 different categories, long life, high performance, general use and standard commercial. These batteries are set in blocks which are connected in strings. These strings can either be configured as single or parallel, depending on the application and regulations within the industry.

VRLA battery life can be maximised by ensuring they are placed in a suitable environment and implementing a regular maintenance schedule. This battery maintenance should be carried out by a competent UPS engineer. When batteries have reached the end of their useful life, they must be returned to the point of sale for safe disposal/recycling.
