Power Control specialise in providing the right solutions for the healthcare market

We have been doing so for almost two decades.

UPS System for Medical

When it comes to providing emergency power for the healthcare market it is also vital that UPS systems, batteries and switchgear adhere to very specific regulations and operating recommendations.

This is especially important for applications such as theatre backup, operating lights, scanners and redundancy. Our commitment to this sector means that we have unparalleled knowledge of the operational intricacies and challenges presented by this sector.

Our experience extends far beyond just supporting the IT infrastructure, we protect clinical laboratory equipment, mobile apparatus such as diagnostic equipment, patient monitoring systems, complete operating theatres and emergency rooms, diagnostic devices and digital imaging systems. All of these rely on a continuous power source to avoid malfunctions, system errors and prevention of costly downtime.

Trusted by leading healthcare authorities across the UK, we have completed over 100 three-phase UPS installs for Siemens Healthcare, carried out several £millions worth of UPS work for other groups supplying UPS solutions for over half the operating theatres in the country.

    • Regulations we comply with:
      • HTM (Health and Safety Memorandum)
      • BS7671 (British Standard)
      • BS6290-4 (British Standard)
      • IEC60601 (International Electrotechnical Commission)

Power Control specialise in providing the right solution for the healthcare market and has done for nearly two decades.

Working in collaboration with a third party contractor, Nigel Thompson (now of T. Clarke East), Power Control supplied and continues to maintain two 250kVA Borri B9000FXS UPS solutions at the UK’s leading specialist cardiothoracic hospital and the country’s main heart and lung transplant centre, Papworth Hospital.

The UPS systems are now being used to provide reliable and efficient backup power during critical patient scanning procedures especially during fluoroscopy and full acquisition phases of the highly advanced Siemens Artis Zee multi-purpose medical scanner.

"I was already aware of Power Control’s superior UPS portfolio and knew that they would be the most suitable partner for this job as they are renowned for delivering reliable backup power solutions. In an environment where available backup power could be a case of life or death, choosing the right UPS system was absolutely critical. Power Control was able to offer us a bespoke UPS solution customised to fit in with our exact operational and design specifications. Papworth Hospital has been delighted with the performance of the UPS and is even more thrilled that Power Control was also able to provide a solution that delivers exceptional efficiency and long-term cost savings."
